Mesa is Updating Its Historic Preservation Ordinance and Design Guidelines – Here’s How You Can Provide Your Input

Mesa has several historic neighborhoods and districts. The City decided a long time ago preservation was important.

In the City’s Mesa 2040 General Plan, they discuss the importance of preserving buildings and heritage sites. The plan outlines historic preservation, redevelopment and housing on page 4-9.

Now it is time for the City to update its Historic Preservation Ordinance and Design Guidelines. The City hopes to complete this task by July 2021, so now is your opportunity to provide your input.

There are two ways you can participate. You can visit the Mesa Historic Preservation information website or you can attend the WeSERV Southeast Valley Government Affairs Committee meeting on June 15, 2021 at 9am.

On June 15th we will have Arianna Urban as our guest. Arianna is the Mesa Historic Preservation Coordinator. She will be telling us about historic preservation in Mesa and the process to impact the proposed updated ordinance.

If you area member of WeSERV and would like to attend the WeSERV Southeast Valley Chapter Government Affairs meeting, please contact Liz Recchia – Government Affairs Director via email or phone call – 623-889-3779.
