Legislative Update April 2019 and Association Health Plans

We are now to the point in the legislative session when bills are either progressing through the system or they are stalled and won’t see a floor vote.

We are rapidly approaching 100 days and after that date, extensions of the session become increasingly more difficult.

If you would like to refresh your memory on the law making process in Arizona, you may watch a video AAR and I did a few years ago: How a Bill Becomes a Law.

To read the bills mentioned in today’s podcast and read more information on them, read the Legislative Update April 11, 2019 blog post.

Association Health Plans are looking like they will be available under a bill running through the legislature, but a DC Circuit Court decision in late March might derail Association Health Plans across the Country. Read the decision and the Department of Labor’s response in the Legislative Update April 11, 2019 blog post. Look for SB 1085 to see the details of the court case.

To see which bills have been signed by the Governor and are now law, go to the sessions law section of the Arizona Legislature website.
