What’s The Visual Triangle? Sign Ordinance Limits Signs at Corners

Visual Triangle illustration - Boulder CO. Ordinance

Surprise, Peoria, Buckeye, Goodyear, and most cities in the West Valley have limitations on the placement of temporary signs.

REALTORS® and their clients should be aware of the ordinance requirements in their city.

The Visual Triangle is the area at the corner of an intersection which must remain clear of signs in order for pedestrians and vehicles to have clear line of sight. This is a safety issue and may be referred to in the city ordinance as the Visual Triangle or the Site Visibility Triangle, or a similar name.

In all cases, cities limit signage in these areas. The illustration is a sample form the City of Peoria proposed sign ordinance.
