City of Surprise Proposed Sign Ordinance – Update Feb. 2, 2018

Surprise, Az City Council 2017

The Final Draft Proposed Sign Ordinance for the City of Surprise has been released. It will be heard before City Council on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 6pm.

Over the course of the past 2 years, WeMAR has worked closely with the City of Surprise and gained many positive changes. Among the many changes:

  • Property owners and their agents may display temporary directional signs to an open house at each location a turn is necessary within the neighborhood.
  • Temporary directional signs for an open house may be placed within the public right-of-way within 500 ft of the neighborhood entrance and on both sides of the street.
  • Commercial signage is larger and more visible. New commercial centers will have the ability to offer monument signage to every center tenant.

These are just a few of the many positive changes made to the proposed Sign Ordinance benefiting residents, property owners and business owners.

Read the Proposed Final Draft Sign Ordinance and consider sending Robert Kuhfuss at the City of Surprise an email of appreciation and an email to City Council encouraging their approval on Feb. 6th.
